    Communications Legislation

    • AB 2385 (Ruskin) - Would prohibit entities that have wireless subscriber aggregated or generated dialing number information from releasing this information to the public without first obtaining the express consent of these subscribers, as specified.  **DRA supported AB 2385
    • AB 3011 (Huffman) - Would extend specified telephone corporation customer proprietary network information protections, as generally outlined below, to all wireline and wireless customers.  Existing law extends these protections only to residential wireline customers.  **DRA supported AB 3011
    • SB 1389 (Padilla) - Would exempt telephone corporations that are not regulated under a rate of return regulatory structure from obtaining prior authorization of the California Public Utilities Commission prior to entering certain transactions.  By creating these exemptions, SB 1389 would erode the authority of the CPUC to protect the public interest.  **DRA opposed SB 1389
    • SB 780 (Wiggins) – Would help ensure the CPUC meets its statutorily required universal service goals of providing available, affordable and high-quality basic telephone service to all Californians.  **DRA supported SB 780
    • SB 1423 (Kuehl) - Would prohibit telephone corporations from charging their subscribers a fee for electing not to have their name or access number listed in a directory or publicly available directory assistance database.  **DRA supported SB 1423
