    Cal Water, Golden State Plan Water Rate Hikes

    Lake County News - Lakeport, CA

    LAKE COUNTY – Water corporations Golden State Water Co. and California Water Service, which both serve areas of Lake County, seek rate increases to improve their ability to attract capital investment. The companies applied on May 1 with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Increases would cover the period from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2011.

    Cal Water granted temporary rate increase

    CHICO -- An administrative law judge has granted a temporary rate increase to the California Water Service Co.

    Starting July 1, the water rate for Chico customers will increase 3.8 percent until the California Public Utilities Commission can rule on Cal Water's original request to increase rates over the next three years.

    CPUC Decides Against Consolidation for California American Water

    Jack Hawks, executive director of the California Water Association reported in his weekly lelter that on May 15, the California Public Utility Commission (PUC) adopted the revenue requirement for California American Water's Sacramento and Larkfield districts, but refused to approve a proposed consolidation of the two districts, as the company had proposed.

    NRRI Discusses Small Water Systems

    On April 29, 2008, National Regulatory Research Institute (NRRI) sponsored a Web-based meeting to discuss small water system regulatory issues. About 60 people attended the meeting, consisting primarily of regulatory commission staff. Participants prioritized issues for which they thought additional research would be beneficial to regulatory commissions.
