Background
In January 2007, the CPUC and California Energy Commission began the Go Solar California! campaign, a joint $3.3 billion effort to encourage Californians to install 3,000 megawatts of solar energy systems over the next decade and transform the market for solar energy.
The CPUC portion of the solar effort is the California Solar Initiative (CSI) Program. CSI is the nation’s largest solar program, with a $2.2 billion budget and a goal of 1,940 megawatts of solar capacity by the end of 2016.
